Agricultural Fertilizers:

Overview

World population is growing by some 70 million people on an annual basis. The amount of uncultivated land worldwide is limited, and therefore, there must be increased performance of existing crop yields to supply the increasing quotient required on an ongoing basis. Declining production in many offshore markets will continue to increase demand for high performance agricultural fertilizer.

agricultural fertilizersThe international fertilizer market is cyclical in nature as it is influenced by many factors such as farm income, weather conditions, government policies, and political developments. Since the Canadian fertilizer industry is largely export-oriented, world market conditions and fluctuations have a major impact on its performance. Most fertilizer imports are duty free into offshore markets.

Canada's three main agricultural fertilizers, Urea, Sulphur, and Potash consist of having separate and distinct elemental base composition. Each is a leading fertilizer component in the generation of higher quantity producing crop yield.

Urea, a nitrogen based fertilizer, is manufactured from ammonia. Ammonia itself can be directly applied to fields, and has become a popular form of nitrogen fertilizer. Urea is typically available either in prilled form or granulate. Urea can either be dried and granulated into 46% N urea fertilizer, or dissolved in water with ammonium nitrate to make urea ammonium nitrate (UAN) solution.

Sulphur, is a natural extract of industrial natural gas production, of which Canada is one of the world's leading volume producers. This results in Canada being among the world's largest producers of Sulphur for export. Canada is the world's largest exporter of elemental sulphur, accounting for 40% of the world's sulphur trade. Canada sells sulphur to about 20 countries, including China, Brazil, South Africa, Mexico, Cuba, the US, Australia, Morocco, New Zealand and Israel.

Potash, typically Muriate of Potash (MOP), is the most traded of fertilizer commodities, with over 80% of world production moving across international borders. Canada is the largest supplier to world markets.

The benefits of your buying Canadian produced agricultural fertilizers are numerous. Prevalent among the most meaningful benefits is the fact that Canada has been, and will continually be, among the world's largest producers for export.
